I hope you don't mind a couple of questions:
Before that, had you ever thought of getting your clothes wet?
I was also wondering if you wore those same clothes in the water every day, or did you sometimes wear different ones?
Did you or the other kids ever stay in the clothes until they dried, or change while still wet?
Did you or anyone else wear shoes in the water?
Camping allows you to get away from some of the rules that burden society.
I had a number of wet experiences on scout troop hikes/campouts and at the more organized scout camp, but the camp would only allow long pants and long sleeve shirts in the lake when doing the fully clothed swim tests for aquatic merit badges. Fortunately there was a creek with pools going through the camp that wasn't as tightly regulated as the lake, so I had a lot of good experiences there.
