They're reasonably common here in the UK. We recently moved from a house with a traditional bathroom with a nice deep bath (good for long soaks) to a home with a wet room. I was doubtful I'd enjoy it as I really enjoyed my bath, but it's a very powerful shower and so easy to just drop all your wet clothes on the floor when you've 'done' easy clean to! Nice feeling also just walking straight under the shower getting soaked instantly. (I've now got a hot tub for the long soaks)
